GFCI and GFI troubleshooting
A GFCI that will not reset can be a failed device, missing power, moisture, a ground fault, damaged wiring, a tripped upstream GFCI, or a breaker issue.
Common locations include kitchens, bathrooms, garages, laundry areas, exterior outlets, pool equipment areas, commercial spaces, and places exposed to moisture.
Simon Electric tests line/load wiring, upstream protection, moisture, device failure, breaker status, connected equipment, and whether the circuit has a ground-fault or wiring issue.
It may not have power, the device may have failed, or the circuit may have a wiring, moisture, or ground-fault issue.
It can be urgent if there is sparking, burning smell, water exposure, repeated tripping, or power loss affecting important equipment.
